The Late Shows...

Had a fabulous time this weekend visiting the Late Shows...maybe a little too much of this...

led to a bit of that

Lots to see and wonder at... loved the Moon Booth at the Mushroom works and the art work at the Stephenson WORKS and it was great to have a nosey around the new  Toffee Factory - very swish:)

My first visit to the Lit & Phil too...its so lovely - all those books and beautiful decor... and apparently they do a mean cup of tea too:)

And of course there was the contrast between arty venues and street life in TOON on a Saturday night;)

some other bits I'm working on - already thinking what if I cut out the letter shapes to show through the collage..what if I do it as a CAD embroidery...what if I mix up the scale a bit more...

Do any of you have these old school posters at your school? Aren't they gorgeous? From the Vintage Fair - so if you've got them lying about get them sold to raise funds - or frame them and put them back up!

Vintage Fair Heaven!

Been to a fabulous Vintage Fair at York race course today! So many stall...so little money:( Maybe i'll win the lottery tonight and be able to rush back tomorrow! If you have the time go along - there's vintage Music playing, vehicles to look at, fashion shows and dance classes - and then there's all the stalls! Fabulous fabrics, divine dresses, jazzy jewels, heavenly hats...need I go on? And there's also furniture, bric a brac and craft workshops - look what I made!

Thanks to the lovely lady from Piperty! I wore it as a fascinator for the rest of the day:)

Jane was after the cute dog inside this Ford Anglia - I was reminiscing about the car my mum used to drive in the early 70's - just like this!

And the best bit is - if you can't make York the event is coming to Newcastle race course on May 20th! Better start saving up again:)

A bus trip to Consett..

Whilst I was preparing for the Trade Fair in Harrogate, I sent out invitations to galleries that I thought might be interested in my work. One invitation was to the The Glass and Art Gallery in Consett. The lovely owner and wonderful glass artist, Maralyn, rang to say she couldn't make Harrogate but would I like to visit her at the gallery? 

So, yesterday me and my little vintage suitcase went on the X70 bus from Newcastle to Consett. It's a lovely journey, up hill and down dale; I saw rabbits and cattle, birds of prey and shetland ponies, some bluebells, lots of pussy willow and a few people!

An art gallery in transit!

I got off at Consett Bus Station and thought hmmm...asked directions for Medomsley Road and followed a trail of tortilla chips to the gallery (well actually I asked the way in the Red Cross Shop - lots of nice buttons there!)

Maralyn was waiting for me and I spent a lovely couple of hours there chatting, learning about how the shop came into being and showing my work - in between maralyn dispatching glasswork and serving customers - and she said Wednesdays were quiet! The shop is a gem, so if you haven't been- go visit. Lots of lovely things, nearly all hand made and there are over 100 North East artists represented. If you need a present, or a treat:) go and see Maralyn!

And, luckily for me I came home with a considerably lighter suitcase...so now I will have to get busy in that newly tidied work room of mine!

 

I told you it was messy...

but now it's looking a whole lot better..

and look that's a new piece of work starting on the drawing board...

I have been clearing everything off a surface then putting back the pieces that should be on that surface - which leaves me with a pile of stuff needing a place to be! Still order is nearly restored:)

Better go and deal with my piles!

Onwards and Upwards

I am tidying up the attic workroom today...you may need to send a search party! How did it get so messy?? Oh yes, working flat out for the Trade Fair at Harrogate.

There's a bit of a 'Pot & Kettle' situation in the house - why would the girls tidy away their toys when they can see the state I leave mine in?! So, here's to leading by example...I will post 'before' and 'after' pictures when there is a discernible difference but don't hold your breath!

It is very noisy in the attic as a hail storm is going on...I was planning on cycling into town later but I think I might need a boat!
