What a busy day...

Been here there and everywhere today....Boiling hot in the attic and what was I doing? Making Christmas Bunting:) Something I thought I'd try on Folksy...pictures to follow

Then there was a mad bike ride to Gateshead to see the fabulous exhibition at the Sanctuary Artspace - otherwise known as St Edmunds Church on the High Street. The exhibiton 'Tres Mujeres' featured the opera singer Rachel Dyson singing a piece by Hildegard of Bingen from the 13th Century - amazing to hear - one voice filling the whole space..

From the sublime..mad dash back home for bedtime stories then off out again to the Art House for the Northumbrian evening...new pieces featured

This is the start of a new series - all based on different things to do on a day out! It measures approximately 16 x 36 cm and retails at £65...

This little one makes good use of my new passion for memory frames....

A Useful Art Company!

Hello! Today loveTEXTILES has joined the artists represented by The Useful Art Company so now if you like my designs you can have them printed on something useful like a MUG or a COASTER or a TEATOWEL ! No news on the bunting competition yet but I'll keep you posted. 

I'm at risk of being buried under the mountain of tins I have collected - and that Mum has sent down from Arran - thanks Mum! - so I'd better get on and fill some of them too. 

 

Little Beach Huts

I've been getting that 'End of the Season' feeling - you know when it's still sunny but there's a nip in the air, you're more likely to grab a jacket than the bottle of sun screen, and a flask seems more tempting than an ice cream? I'm hoping to get one more trip out in Minnie before its too cold but I'm not sure when that'll happen...

But in my lovely attic workroom (still not fully'arranged' to my satisfaction!) I can see the sunshine and hear the seagulls so I came up with these three pieces- hope you like them:)

bit blurry but there's the flask and a mug of tea on the table!

I've got some fab new stampers that I've used to do the title on the back of this one - 

I know it says May 2011 but its taken me this long to decide on how to frame it! It was supposed to fit in a toffee tin but the tin looked too shiny and new - maybe it needs to be buried in the garden for a while! Anyway, I love those stampers - cards and labels coming up!

Beachcomber bunting

This is my design for a bunting competition - fingers crossed!

Its all made of recycled fabrics and bits and pieces. The tape that the pennants hang from is actually hessian upholstery webbing! I found the blue braid in 'Chillingham Collectables', most of the beads used came from deconstructed necklaces - i.e broken ones!

I'll let you know how I get on:)

The map stars are fiddly to make but I think they look good:)

When it's all strung out there is a little poem written along the flags.

I've got ideas for more bunting so I'll keep adding some in as its completed! I had one of those moments today when I had to sit down and have a cup of tea - ideas started flying into my head and I got a bit bamboozled. Good job I'm still revelling in the luxury of school day work hours! (Although littlest did say she'd had enough of reception today:0) I just have to write everything down in my ideas book and see how they develop!

Term has started! Still has that air of fresh starts and new beginnings - maybe that's why I'm turning the workroom upside down:) Still, most of the floor is now visible, some of the shelves are organised and I am going to finish a length of 'Beachcomber Bunting' today - pictures to follow:)
